IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY
School Closing Announcements
Radio stations WIOV, WARM103, WLAN, WHP580, WLPA, WQZA, WEEU, WITF, and television channels 8 (WGAL-TV) and 21 (WHP-TV21) are informed of any change in the school’s schedule as soon as possible. The school subscribes to an Emergency Notification System, Alert Now. If the school is closed or delayed due to weather the system automatically calls each family and notifies of the closure or delay. It is important to keep your contact information current with the school because of this. The LCDS website (www.lancastercountryday.org) will also provide information about changes in the school schedule. Every effort is made to make a decision by 6:30 a.m., but please continue to listen because conditions sometimes worsen. Please do not call the school for this information.
If LCDS delays its opening, the Reading buses will run on the same delayed schedule. For example, if LCDS is on a one-hour delay, a bus that normally makes its first pickup at 7:00 a.m. will make its first pickup at 8:00 a.m.
The loss of a large number of school days due to weather could result in the loss of school holidays and Spring Break or an adjustment to the length of the school day.
